Position Summary & Responsibilities
As a Heavy Technician at Waste Management, you oversee complex mechanical overhauls, hydraulic repairs, and electrical diagnostics on heavy commercial waste vehicles and heavy landfill earthmoving machinery. Working in a modern fleet shop, you troubleshoot engine control modules, rebuild high-pressure hydraulic cylinders, replace brake systems, and conduct mandatory DOT safety compliance inspections. You also log digital work orders, assist with parts inventory, and maintain high shop safety standards. This role is 100% physical and strictly requires full on-site mechanical shop presence (zero remote capability).
Qualifications & Benefits
High School Diploma or GED required; formal vocational training in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair strongly preferred. Requires 3+ years of professional experience working on heavy-duty commercial trucks or diesel machinery, a valid driver's license (CDL preferred), and complete tool set ownership.
